As any homebuyer will know, school catchment areas can have a huge impact on house prices. This is significant for landlords, who need to weigh up what the property costs against the projected rental income.
Here are the best performing schools on the Wirral for 2018, which will be reflected in the popularity of rental properties in the respective catchment areas.
Thornton Hough and Brookhurst Primary Schools came joint first, with 91% of pupils reaching the required standard in maths, reading and writing. They were closely followed by Our Lady of Pity Catholic Primary School then Barnston Primary. Mersey Park and St Andrews CofE Primary Schools ranked in joint fourth place.
The other primary schools rounding out Wirral’s top 10 were Great Meols, Liscard, St Peter and Paul, West Kirby and West Kirby St. Bridget’s, while Greenleas, Heswall, Irby and Brookdale all scored higher than 75%.
Upton Hall School FCJ was not only the best performing secondary school on the Wirral peninsula; it also ranked at number two for the entire Merseyside region. A trio of grammar schools followed, with Wirral Grammar School for Girls coming second, West Kirby Grammar School third, and Wirral Grammar School for Boys in fourth place.
The rest of the top 10 included another grammar school, one with academy status and a couple of colleges. St John Plessington Catholic College came fifth, and was followed by Calday Grange Grammar School, St Anselm’s College, Birkenhead High School Academy, and Pensby High School, with Weatherhead High School snatching the last spot in the region’s top secondary schools list.
